The Polish Scholarship Fund proudly announces Charlie Hollis as our “2012 Pole of the Year!” .
Charlie, a local funeral director, has been living, working and raising his family in the Syracuse area for thirty-five years. Charlie, a compassionate person, shares his good fortune with those around him. His selfless contributions have enriched our community and his many civic activities have improved the quality of life here in Central New York. He is an accomplished businessman and a prominent member of the Polish Community being part of Sacred Heart Basilica, the I.J. Paderewski choir, the Syracuse Polish Home and a strong supporter of the Polish Scholarship Fund. Stefan Cardinal Wyszynski of Poland once said, “Human beings are not only responsible for their feelings for others, but also for the feelings they wake up in others.” Charlie wakes up those feelings in others by example – giving his time, money and talents to the aid local Polish community. According to Charlie, his grandfather gave him these words of wisdom, “even if you are a street sweeper, be the best!” Charlie has tried to honor him by being the “best he can be.” !
