Elizabeth Mroziewicz, MD, FACOG our “Pole of the Year,” comes with an impressive professional background!
In 1971, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, cum laude from Syracuse University and in 1975 her Doctor of Medicine Degree from SUNY Health Science Center in Syracuse. She did her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Upstate Medical Center and her internship at the Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
She has been in private practice for 27 years and is a Clinical Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Upstate Medical University involved in the education of both medical students and residents and a member of numerous professional organizations, besides having articles that she wrote published in The International Surgery and the Journal of Gynecologic Surgery. Also from 1983 to the present, she is Student Seminars Preceptor at SUNY Health Science Center.
Dr. Mroziewicz came to the United States as a teenager and attended Sacred Heart High School graduating in three years.
Her father, Tadeusz, was very active in the Polish Community, including acting as a president of the White Eagle Club, which helped Polish immigrants and organized a school with Polish language.
She has been married for 28 years to Krzysztof Janik and has three children: Marta, a teacher of ESL (English as a Second Language) in Virginia, Monika is working in Washington D.C. and Adam who is completing his third year of studies at Stanford University in California. All three of her children speak Polish and love to spend their vacations in Poland, where they’ve taken courses in Polish language at the Jagiellonia University in Cracow.
In her spare time, she is a member of the Polish Heritage Club and John Paul II Foundation.
